25 Aug 10 - Atoms Green Boys U16/6 (2010 Winter)

Atoms Green had a bye in the last round and the team finished one point shy of top of the ladder. A Great effort from all. This season has been really terrific, with everyone contributing week in week out. With the Chance of a Grand final berth this week we are all pumped and ready to go. We beat the breakers last time pretty convincingly, and this time we have a better team in place. Aaron is back to his leaping best, George who seemed to misplace his MOJO has found it once again, Hamish lets his fingers and hands do the talking, Ozz is harder to move from under the ring than the proverbial brick shit house (pardon my back yard) but really I am even struggling!!! Hopefully Nicky will be back, Winnie is on fire and is the incept King, Connor has found some stand tall and deliver form, and Bailey did not play last time against this team, and is coming off a 26 point game last match. We know what we need to do and deserve to be where we are. Second is no excuse. News 25th Aug.

The last two weeks we have played the top team (breakers) and the 4th team (Atoms Blue) it has been a real test to see where we are at this season. The breakers Game was terrific and we triumphed by 6 points in the end thanks to a wholesome team effort by all. In particular, playing the game of his basketball career to date was Nicky Munyao. Nick scored from inside and outside and pulled some gutsy rebounds. He ended up getting fouled of with 4 mins to go and spent every foul wisely. Well done Nick. All in all we played much more rhythmical and structured basketball than the Breakers, who seem to buckle under the pressure. 5th August
Last week’s win against the another Atoms team, who beat us on the buzzer in the 3rd round, was a tough and torrid affair. We had two tech fouls (dubious to say the least) to their one. Both teams ended up on the foul line towards the end of the last half and in the finish we muscled a win by running out 28 to 16. Again we were strong on the boards with Oscar and Bailey dominating. Winston scored 3 by 3 pointers in a BOG effort. 21st June

Outstanding win on Saturday with a 43 to 9 win against a team that last season beat us with a last minute 3 point shot on the buzzer. The team is really starting to gel, and playing great team orientated basketball. With the addition of Bailey Armstrong to the team this season, and a lot of hard work at training under the ring, our offensive and defensive rebounding has become a strong force. Hamish is now back from a 3 match layoff with an ankle injury and together with Winston in top form, the ball movement is swift and the defence is fast and effective. Oscar and Aaron have been awesome under the ring and Nick’s defensive work has been outstanding. Well done boys. If we keep this up the season could look pretty fruitful.
